How It Works

Montlure partners with local churches across AZ to bring camping ministry to younger campers who are not old enough, or not quite ready, for an overnight camp experience. Our summer staff travels to different locations to bring the magic of camp right to the neighborhoods of our youngest campers.

Camp in the City is open to campers who are entering 1-6th grades in the fall.

Camp is Monday through Thursday 9:00am-3:00pm, and Friday 9am-12:30pm.
(Some sites offer extended care through 5:00pm M-Th.)

If you think Camp in the City is program your church would be interested in or would benefit from, please contact our Camp Director to learn more about this ministry and schedule a week for your church.  Email: camp@montlure.org or (520) 369-2199.

Purpose

The purpose of Camp in the City is to assist congregations in providing a quality Christian camp experience directly at their site. During this time, we strive for young people to engage with one another in activities, and become enthused about congregational ministry and a life with Christ. Our hope is that Camp in the City will be a program of youth evangelism and outreach for the local church.

Strength

The strength of Camp in the City is the people. Montlure Camp’s team is comprised of young adults who are selected for their Christian commitment, work ethic, and love of children. They are trained to lead Bible studies, worship and singing, crafts and wild and crazy recreation. It is a relational ministry and our emphasis is to offer quality Christian role models for young people.

Uniqueness

The uniqueness of Camp in the City is flexibility while still offering a Montlure “camp” experience away from the woods. Camp staff work with each church to design a program specifically to meet the strengths of the church and its site. Our curriclum and programming is Christ-centered and activity based, encouraging hands-on and active learning for all types of learners.
